I often wonder what the people around me, the neighbors and strangers I encounter out and about in the world, feel about what all is going on in the world right now. And while I may not necessarily wonder about it, I do very much hold recognition to how unaware I am as to what may be occurring in their own existences. It doesn't seem like that's something that is so much as forgotten as met with apathy at best, hostility at worst.
I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around why it is seemingly so difficult for everyone to just give each other the basic recognition as human beings we deserve. There is so much harm and death being inflicted across the globe that wouldn't be if we weren't apathetic to the humans that we view as different or threatening to us. I'm not just talking about war, I'm not just talking about the powers that be and their child sex trafficking ring, but all the daily instances of shootings, robberies, assaults and murders that occur and have occurred throughout human history.
How much damage must we do to ourselves before we're ready to pursuit living in peace? How many humans need to perish before we take the energy we expend into violence and place it in advancement? Like what in the actual fuck are we, as a species, doing? Not caring about our own welfare, evidently. As it looks at this moment, the name of the game is greed, which is perplexing as none of us can take any material things with us when our time is up. Some believe we'll take our memories and experiences with us, some believe we'll be judged with them, and those appear to be the ones most hellbent on causing harm instead of seeking solutions.
The differences between us are just that: differences. They don't need to be handled with hostility, they need to be met with a willingness to understand and a desire to find balance. Differences aren't inherently threatening, yet are the most commonly weaponized facet of the human experience. We are all inherently different from one another, that is just simply a fact of reality. Not one of us shares the exact same thoughts, feelings, experiences, wiring, or genetics, all of us humans fall on a spectrum of uniqueness just by simply being alive as ourselves. Race, gender, orientation, religion, political affiliation, tax bracket, these are all literally man-made labels created likely with the intent of easing communication but has wound up fueling this ever growing divisional mindset.
I prefer to keep things simple. Humans are humans. The labels literally only matter as much as we make them, and the more importance that is placed in them the more forgotten that one simple fact gets. Is there truly any pure moral justification for the harm we've subjected ourselves to? I believe not.
Until next time.
